Der amerikanische Publisher LucasArts, welcher für vieleEigenentwicklungen verantwortlich war, wurde durch die Spieletitel Maniac Mansion und der Monkey Island Reihe sehr erfolgreich.
Geschichte
Der amerikanische Publisher, welche seine Spieletitel in Eigenregie entwickelte, wurde von George Lucas im Jahre 1982 unter dem Namen Lucasfilm Games als Spieleentwickler gegründet. Früher war der Spieleentwickler hauptsächlich mit der Entwicklung von Adventuren beschäftigt.
Im Jahre 1991 wurde das Spieleunternehmen von Lucasfilm Games in LucasArts umbenannt und aus der Zeit stammten auch die weltweit erfolgreichen LucasArts Adventures, wie Maniac Mansion und die Monkey Island Reihe.
Als Jim Ward die Position des Geschäftsführers im Jahre 2005 einnahm, wurde das Unternehmen umstrukturiert und die Entwicklung von eigenen Spieleprojekten stark verringert. Spieleprojekte wurden überwiegend von externen Spieleentwicklern übernommen. Mit dem überraschenden Rücktritt von Jim Ward im Jahre 2008, übernahm der ehemalige CEO von Electronic Arts, Darrell Rodriguez die Position. Als dieser doe Position im Jahre 2008 aufgab, trat Paul Meegan die Position des CEO an.
